okay! before i start i want to first say i 100% respect everyone’s opinions and im not trying to offend or insult anyone! 🙂
okay, so i’ve seen a bit about people saying trans sherlock is canon, and it bothers me a bit. i have no problem whatsoever with trans individuals and/or trans headcanons/AUs, but its a bit annoying to see people saying it’s canon.
i feel like some people try to force things like homosexuality and transition onto characters to make them more relatable, even when they’re not. i do believe AUs and canon should stay separate [but that’s my opinion! i understand and respect if you disagree!] now, im not saying i disagree that sherlock is gay! i do believe he’s gay, mostly because it’s very heavily implied and fairly obvious : ) The thing about translock being canon, i don’t understand it. there’s no evidence? there’s nothing that implies it? gender isn’t even a subject in this series? homosexuality is mentioned multiple times throughout the show, and it helps us to understand that sherlock is in fact, gay. if there is evidence or anything which does imply sherlock isn’t cis, i’d love to see it ! because i’ve been in this fandom about two years, and i can’t say i’ve see anything which points to sherlock being trans. and im not saying that trans individuals have to prove themselves, but i mean, there is absolutely nothing which i know of that implies that he isn’t cis. now, i have no problem with trans characters! i would love more trans characters! but i don’t want sherlock to be one of them, because he isn’t trans. as a transgender myself, i find it a tad bit offensive to call this obviously cis character trans when he’s not. it’s just misrepresentation : S i don’t want a cis character being a face for the trans community, i want legitimate trans characters to represent me. there would be war if a trans character was called cis [because it erases their identity] so why is it okay to do it with a cis character? there’s nothing wrong with cis individuals, and i think people have to realize they do in fact exist, and just because they’re cis doesn’t mean we have to change them. they deserve the same respect they give us [unless they’re being hateful, then that’s a different story]

the main idea is that i don’t understand why people try to make translock canon when there is nothing that even implies that he is anything other than cis. and, i know this is tumblr, where people love to spill their opinions and most people probably don’t care about what i have to say, but this has been bugging me for a while, and i would love to know what makes you feel this way about this character. it’s totally possible that you guys did mean this as an AU, and this is a big misunderstanding. i totally respect if you disagree, and i totally respect what you have to say ! hopefully this doesn’t come off as aggressive or hateful ! and im so so sorry if this upsets anyone 💖💖💖🐝Cis is not the default and nothing about Sherlock is specifically cis. There is lots of trans coding for him though.
What’s more we shouldn’t need proof? Since nothing about Sherlock proves he’s cis and you’re just assuming he is? If people saying he’s trans upsets you maybe examine why.

this man wanted to cry ever since he saw Sherlock on the roof, it’s not healthy to keep such a big cry in for a long time
like, when everything is resolved and he moves back to bakerstreet, I want him to realise how often he came close to losing Sherlock forever, I want him to look at Sherlock and realise that it’s real, that Sherlock is back and that they’re both finally home, and I want him to break down and cry
I want him to hold Sherlock tightly, as if to never let him go, and cry until he’s hiccuping and his eyes are burning and Sherlock’s dressing gown is damp with his tears, and afterwards I want him to look up and smile and sniffle, because everything is finally good
The thing I love about tab is that the first layer of subtext is that its referring to the canon, but then deep down its really referring to Sherlock’s own thoughts, like Sherlock feeling like he’s always faking when he’s in front of other people “do you have to pose while you do your deductions?” or Sherlock wanting to write out what he did to John at Baskerville “I was barely in the dog one” or regretting his recent relapse and feeling like John was the only thing that made him be better for a little while “Perhaps since I convinced the reading public that an unprincipled drug addict is some kind of gentleman hero.” this is all terrible
can you believe that someday these people are going to have to begrudgingly include sherlock in their lgbt media recs
