listening to green light and when lorde said “i know what you did and i wanna scream the truth / she thinks you love the beach you’re such a damn liar” instead of opting for the more obvious rhyme “such a damn fool” in order to force the listener to sit up and pay attention to her anger … that lyric twist alone deserved album of the year
she pulled the same twist in glory and gore! she sings “wide awake in bed / words in my brain” instead of “words in my head” and the fact that she has a habit of doing this really makes me appreciate her music even more! queen of breaking away from lyrical predictably and forcing the listener to shut up and listen !!
