That autism feel when you want to use physical and verbal stims when you get overwhelmed but you’re in public so you can’t and you end up getting even more overwhelmed

Me: *Stims around my parents, has a special interest and info dumps to them, shows obvious discomfort at being touched (especially by other people’s feet), has talked about how I can’t stand the texture of some foods/fabrics, goes non verbal frequently, has times where I’m bordering on a meltdown/shutdown and simply cannot deal, has very specific rituals for how I do things, wears socks and jeans everywhere no matter how hot it gets because anything else is sensory hell, is confused about some jokes/levels of sarcasm, Cannot. Understand. Math.*
Also me: *is hella sarcastic, very mature for my age, hides meltdowns/more expressive stims*
My mom: Well, you don’t act like the two autistic children I know, even though I’ve acknowledged that autism is a spectrum. So *obviously* you’re just shy and quirky and need to get out more.
i dont feel autistic enough to be autistic despite my official diagnosis but im not neurotypical enough to be neurotypical and independant so where the f*ck do i fit in
the dimmest on iphone is not dim enough
i want my screen so dark i cant see shit!!
Do other people get the thing where your hearing is fine as far as non-voice sounds go, but when someone talks and you weren’t expecting it, all you hear is “hawhwoh wofewf wmmagh”?
I feel like I have to sort of prepare myself to understand language. Is this super weird or incredibly common?
…Is it a dyspraxia thing? I have a lot of dyspraxia things.
please be nice to autistic folks who ask for explanations of jokes, memes, sarcasm, etc. or who ask you to repeat what you say/expand on your thought in another way. we are trying our best to follow along… but sometimes a train of thought is just ??? confusing as hell. it costs 0 dollars to be nice to someone who is just trying to understand…thank you for your time
“why do you randomly shiver violently” well because sometimes a sensory thing is so overwhelming that my brain and body freak out for a second because its really hard to process but im just going to jokingly say im possessed because sadly that would be a lot more plausible to you than me having sensory issues
omg, I had no idea raptor hands was a thing with autism?? I literally do it all the time, but I try not to cause I’m worried people will think I’m acting weird. That explains a lot to me

hey! @ all my fellow autistic folks and others with sensory issues and particular palates!
it’s okay to order off the kids menu! it’s okay to ask for things removed from ur meal! u deserve as much comfort as u can get out of a meal!
ur needs are important and there’s nothing wrong with being a picky or fussy eater because we have valid reasons for it! i love u!
If you get nervous to talk when you order these things or are nonverbal, it’s okay to write things down and hand it to servers/cashiers, as well!
I do this at the Dunkin Donuts near me and they told me it helps because it ensures they won’t make a mistake entering it, so it’s no nuisance to them.
im sorry to everyone who has ever tried to talk to me and then realized my communication skills are equivalent to a stale piece of bread
