Autistic teens are just so sweet and wonderful, bravely figuring out the world and helping others do the same. They are all so strong and precious.

I’m not good at “dancing” because I do not know the difference between “dancing” and “stimming to music”
tuafw you hate going to most restaurants because it always feels like you’re infantilizing yourself because the only foods you can order are foods typically found on “kids” menus
How to get rid of any illness
-douche with green tea
-eat an entire jar of coconut oil everyday
-cut gluten, eggs, dairy,MSGs, meats, oxygen, and sugar out of your diet
-never stop doing yoga, you have to do it every second of your life. Sleep in downward dog, shower in warrior position, walk on your hands
-shove kale up your ass
And last, but not least
– just be happy all the time. You know, the only real disability in life is a bad attitude
Things that need to stop: autism only being represented as white eight-year old boys who know a lot about trains and airplanes.
OH SHIT.
especially because autism has been massively underdiagnosed in girls because it presents itself differently- doctors literally notice that she doesn’t show the above stereotypical signs and so they don’t diagnose her.
it’s really important to note that black children are disproportionately affected by not only lack of diagnosis, but of misdiagnosis, as well as latinx children, largely because of deeply entrenched racism in the medical community, and the ways in which they present on the spectrum are often seen as an inherent lack of intelligence, or psychosis, in non-white people.
so, it should be specified that, while all girls are obviously affected by this clear neglect from the medical community, black and latinx girls are much less likely to be diagnosed than white girls.
Tf when you can’t remember names!! And can’t remember faces!! And it’s embarrassing!!

• telling the same joke/ wanting to have the same conversation over and over again
• not having much coordination and having a tough time doing “easy” things like tying shoelaces
• having trouble understanding what you mean and needing lots of clarification
• needing things to be broken down into little steps
• having extremely high or extremely low empathy
• getting very attached to things like inanimate objects

If you are worried that you are not disabled or mentally ill ‘enough’ because you can pass for neurotypical, just remember that neurotypicals don’t second-guess themselves as such, and don’t have to stress about or put forth effort into acting ‘normal’.
