It’s no longer just a video hosting service, but a complex market which attracts the attention-seeking and rewards the self-promoting. There are plenty of nice decent people making money on youtube, but the system does very little to prevent garbage personalities from seeking the treasure and becoming reinforced by uncritical fanbases. Being gay + a person of color is wild because on one hand you love your culture and your roots and your people but a lot of people around you are still openly homophobic and shitty or uneducated so you try and find solace in the LGBT+ community only to be faced with tons of microagressions and a lack of representation and you end up having to try and balance and exist between both things.
Benedict Cumberbatch has publicly stated that he thinks people viewing protagonists in media like Sherlock Holmes as autistic is ‘dangerous’ & ‘lazy’ because it ‘offers false hope’ that autistic people could be ‘brilliant’ or heroic…
so yeah i’m gonna give a pass on his superhero movie, because he doesn’t think people like me deserve heroes, or that we could ever be them.

that autism feel when you’re friends with someone who’s extremely draining and you finally befriend other people that don’t take as much energy to hang with and you want to hang with them more but the draining friend keeps driving them away because they want you all to themselves and you can’t tell them to stop because they take everything super personally
