6 Gay Romance Movies That Won’t Make You Want To Die*

*Basically I’m seeing all these Very Hetero lists for Valentine’s Day, but I also know how hard it can be to find non-soul crushing gay romance films so:

Desert Hearts (1985) – A free spirit seduces a shy older professor in 1950′s Reno. Ground-breaking at the time (and now tbh) for giving two lesbians a happy ending.

My Beautiful Laundrette (1985) – A Pakistani young man in London inherits a run-down laundromat and sets out to spruce with up with the help of his boyfriend. The couple faces various threats of a Thatcher-era society, but are ultimately happy in the end.

But I’m A Cheerleader (1999) – This is rightfully on almost every queer film list I come across and a necessary staple. It’s about, you guessed it, a cheerleader, who is sent to a conversion camp and falls in love with one of her camp mates.

Imagine Me & You (2005) – A newlywed falls in love with the girl who did the flowers for her wedding. This obviously isn’t a masterpiece or anything but the two leads are so cute and you’ll have a great time.

The Way He Looks (2014) – A blind teenager gains feelings for his new best friend at school. It’s a small gem that makes me crave more simple, sweet, gay teen romances with happy endings and belle & sebastian songs.

Carol (2015) – …It’s Carol, y’all. I mean come on. Carol.

In other news, water is wet

Let the children be themselves

no fucking shit

‘trans kids feel better if they can be themselves’

‘dogs feel good when you don’t hit them’

‘you don’t feel hungry if you eat’

People are making fun but we all know a horrifying number of parents actually do need to be told this and seeing it for probably the first time in their entire lives in an ordinary news outlet can get them thinking.

Considering how many people ONLY believe something once a scientific study demonstrates it, no matter how self-evident or common-sense it may seem, yes, someone did need to do this research and publish it.

Every time a study like this comes out people have this attitude like it’s a bunch of clueless, stuffy old scientists wastefully demonstrating something everyone “already knew” but the truth is studies like these are by people who passionately want to make the world better by systematically debunking common foundations of prejudice.

idk to me it sounds like the sarcasm of a lot of trans people tired of living in a society where we are often told that we cannot possibly know what is good for us and the fact that it takes a panel of scientists to convince cis people to let us live

that’s a real and valid frustration. we are capable of recognizing this as a good thing while also expressing the frustration that it had to be done at all – if transgender people were permitted to be the experts in question, these studies would have been done and published decades ago

Marina and the diamondsGems – Solitaire (part 2)

And all the other jewels around me
They astounded me at first
I covered up my heart in boundaries
And all the fakes, they called me cursed
But I’m not cursed, I’m not cursed
I was just covered in dirt, dirt, dirt, dirt

Solitaire
Something you consider rare
I don’t wanna be compared
With that cheap shimmer and glitter

no offense but why are positive posts about men so controversial!! what do y’all have against mlm and moc and trans/nb men!! like i get how cishet men can be oppressive!! but that doesn’t give you the right to hijack positive posts about men who need positivity!! let young trans boys feel valid!! let moc feel safe!! let gay men feel accepted!! it’s not that hard!!
