“yaoi” is toxic and homophobic, despite what you might think. it negatively affects gay guys like myself, because it endorses the idea that being gay is inherently sexual and inappropriate, and treats us like a fetish for straight girls and women to enjoy, which we aren’t.
please understand why it’s harmful and try to stay away from it. i understand where you’re coming from, and it’s NOT uncommon for girls your age to get into that stuff, so i’m not blaming you. but it would really be for the best if you didn’t support it.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: just because yaoi/BL helped you come into your sexuality, something that can be hard under the patriarchy for a young girl, it doesn’t excuse the fetishistic or homophobic nature of that kind of material.
