Transparent Mirrors is a student-led organization that works to clear up misconceptions surrounding eating disorders and create a safe environment at school and online to discuss body image.
We collect, publish, and analyze survivor’s stories on online platforms in order to create conversations that bring awareness to such pervasive issues. We are high school students who have personally struggled with body image issues and eating disorders and witness negativity and ignorance regarding body image in everyday life. We felt compelled to ensure that no others went through the same pain we did.
Our short term goal is to educate our community about eating disorders and the consequences of them. We aim to eliminate the objectifying and oppressive ideas confining women to stereotypes by bringing awareness to issues as such. Our ultimate goal is to eradicate eating disorders completely create a better and more supportive world for everyone today. We also hope to make individuals more aware of eating disorders and negative body image in the media.
On a personal level, we hope that by founding this organization we will be able to heal from the past battles we have fought against negative body image.
